Dearest,
This mountain is twice as fearsome as the tales tell. Yesterday we nearly lost one of the dog sleds into a crevasse. Only some quick thinking on the part of yours truly averted that disaster. It carried all our food supplies as well as one of the tents. The others would have struggled without their tent overnight. But there was no need for that, as my heroism prevented their loss. Though it does mean they insist on curbing our speed, just in case there's another similar situation. I'm all for moving forward as fast as we can, and this hesistancy galls me. I worry we're losing momentum and they'll demand we turn around before reaching the peak. If that happens, I will insist on continuing alone. That should shame them into accompanying me. You'll see me soon, having crested the damn thing.
I promise to bring you back a stone from the top,
Your intrepid adventurer.
